Boundary stela c

the use of boundary stones to provide a visual marker for fields or even for prove. Incas (nomes) was known below the Amana period, but the definition of an urban area with rock steal can only be understood in terms of particular cultic and topographical considerations. Ln the text of two(three) of the steal ,the so .called early declaration, of his 5th year of reign , Akhenaten expressly makes a kind of public announcement concerning the choice of location which, he claims, was determined by the god aten and deed Nat allow for an alternative; (…)at this please shall l found Akhenaton for my father arena. Neither to the north, east or west shall I found Akhetanten for my father Aten. Neither to the north, south, east or west shall I build Akhetaten. * the remote but still vulnerable location of the boundary stelae ( up to 29.5 feet; 9 m high) has unfortunately exposed them to both erosion and vandalism. Many of them have been damage in recent decades as is the case of a large fragment of steal s (see red frame in illustration, right) which is today in Boston (Museum of fine Arts, 1992.18). when this stela was first published around 1910 the fragment was still in its original position in the upper filed. It shows the two oldest daughters of the king, Meritaten and Maketaten, each holding a sistrum and helping their parents make sacrifices under the rays of the sun disc, Aten.
